Achievement Coach

Part-time (20 hours per week)

Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Achievement Coach to join our team and support opportunity youth (ages 16-24) in navigating a healthcare job training pilot program. As an Achievement Coach, you will play a pivotal role in empowering young individuals to overcome barriers, set and achieve goals, and ultimately succeed in their healthcare career journey. The Achievement Coach serves as the primary person in guiding program participants through the Norwalk Workforce Development training program into employment. The Achievement Coach is responsible for the recruitment, support, retention, and completion of the participants (estimated 20-25) and will be responsible for addressing the needs of participants and understanding barriers. This position is a trusted liaison between the candidates and the organization, and the employer partners.

Responsibilities:
1. Establish rapport with participants and track their progress through training, internship, and employment phases.
2. Conduct one weekly check-ins to support participants during program onboarding, completion, and early employment.
3. Work with partners to identify additional supportive services needed.
4. Monitor attendance and program progress, provide referrals to community resources, and support families.
5. Participate in planning meetings and program events to ensure program success.
6. Evaluate programming, assess the need for changes, and maintain organized documentation and tracking systems.
7. Provide administrative support, communicate with stakeholders, and assist with data collection and evaluation for reporting.
8. Manage workflow to ensure deadlines are met and work is completed correctly.
9. Advocate on behalf of participants to ensure their needs are met within the program and broader community
10. Serve as a liaison between participants, program administrators, and external stakeholders.
11. Cultivate partnerships with local organizations, healthcare providers, and employers to create opportunities for program participants.

Qualifications:
1. Interest in promoting community well-being by leveraging hands-on experience or educational background in social work, public health, or related fields.
2. Previous experience working with Opportunity Youth, preferably in a coaching or mentoring capacity is preferred.
3. Knowledge of healthcare systems, job training programs, and career pathways in the healthcare industry is preferred.
4. Strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
6. Cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management software.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Possession of a valid Connecticut motor vehicle operator's license.
2. Must be able to pass a background check.
